Narcocorridos is a very controversial style of music in Mexico. Those who love it tend to be victims of the violence brought on by the drug war, and therefore they use it to cope with trauma while also benefitting financially from a situation they cannot escape. Those who dislike the genre tend to be outside of the culture, far from the affected areas and are usually higher up in the class hierarchy.
